Obtaining a Permit

What To Bring For Your Day Visit:

  • Picnic lunch
  • Drinks (drinking water is not available on the Island)
  • Sun hat & sun block
  • Jacket, Parka or raincoat
  • Reasonable walking shoes
  • Camera
  • Swimming gear.

A permit is essential before visiting Kapiti island and must be booked prior to arranging your ferry transport.

The Department of Conservation issue 50 permits per day to the Nature Reserve on Rangatira Point and 18 permits to the North End Public Land at Waiorua Bay

Book as early as possible as permits can be booked up to 3 months in advance
